Intent data (stated preferences, RSVPs, profile attributes) is what people say they want or what they claim about themselves. Social outcome data is what actually happened. The gap between these two is substantial — people consistently behave differently from how they describe their preferences, and self-reported attributes are unreliable predictors of real-world behavioral compatibility.
AI systems trained on social outcome data learn to predict real-world behavior; AI systems trained on intent data learn to predict stated preferences. For coordination systems that need to produce reliable real-world outcomes, the former is categorically more valuable.
Social outcome data can only be collected by systems that are operationally present at real-world interactions: running events, facilitating meetings, and collecting structured feedback. This operational requirement is the source of its competitive advantage — the collection barrier means it cannot be purchased, scraped, or generated, only earned through real-world operations.
